Cookbook Design

THE Brief:
Design a cookbook titled "My Favourite 25 Ingredients"
The concept:
The theme of the cookbook was based on post-its and blackboards, that are two most common objects on which words and letters are found in kitchens. For the visuals, I photographed the ingredients against a wooden background and used post-its to label each them. I chose to focus on the ingredients rather than the dishes to go along with the title of the cookbook.
#NOTE: The contents of the recipes cannot be revealed due to copyright reasons, therefore, the instructions have been replaced by placeholder text and the proportions of the ingredients have been changed to zero.
While cooking, sometimes people slightly change the recipe or the proportions of the ingredients. The cookbook would have an extra page at the end, which can be used to make a note of these changes. The extra page consists of post-it strips that say ‘My Notes.’ This page would be perforated with adhesive on the left side so that the strips can be torn and pasted onto any page.
“Food has history and culture within its own right.”
I decided to explore this sentence from the brief and looked at the origin of the ingredients mentioned in the cookbook. On finding that basil is native to India, I took photographs of basil in India: where it is sold and why it is worshiped. I designed my findings into two spreads that would be arranged in the cookbook along with basil recipes.
