Sketches of the top half of the Victoria Memorial in Kolkata in July '17
I made this sketch on our Visual Art trip to Kolkata in 2013 when we sat in the lawns surrounding the famous Victoria Memorial. As I was sketching I found it difficult to get the shadows and perfect structure of the domes correct. From the various cultural, social, diverse aspects of the vibrant city of Kolkata, the grandeur of Victoria Memorial and the area surrounding it appeals to me the most. It was the magnificence and the architecture of the structure that encouraged me to keep trying.
